As we celebrate a decade of Platinum Geomatics, we asked Jeff Simmons to reflect on the journey.
🏆 Biggest accomplishment in the last 10 years?
“Seeing our growth create opportunities for some really talented and hardworking people.”
💭 Favorite early memory?
“There are many, but the very first one happened literally the same afternoon we decided to leave our former employer and start Platinum Geomatics. I had a client call me with a project. I explained that the three of us were leaving our former employer and provided this person with the new point of contact at our previous employer. He hesitated and then said, “we’ve always done our projects with you, wherever y’all are working is where we plan to do business”. It was incredibly exciting and scary at the same time. We didn’t even have our equipment yet!”
💪 What makes PG stand out?
“I like to think it is how we treat our employees. Our philosophy has always been to treat each person as a professional from day one. No micromanagement. Get your work done properly and on time and you can flourish here.”
🤔 What’s exciting about the next 10 years?
“To witness our evolution. The first 10 years started out as a slog through the initial difficulties that come with creating a new company and gaining the trust of a loyal client base. The last few years have been a sprint to try and grow to meet the demands of a surging backlog. Both have been exciting, but painful, at times. I look forward to seeing our company mature and solidify itself as the best provider of geospatial services in our market.”
Ten years in — and we’re just getting started. 🙌
